Bondada Engineering Ltd has announced a major milestone in its renewable energy journey, securing a ₹576 crore contract to execute solar power projects across various districts in Maharashtra. Awarded under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM) scheme, these projects aim to bolster the state’s solar energy capacity and support agricultural sustainability.
The contract was awarded through Letters of Award (LOA) from Lumina Clean Energy Private Ltd, Purelight Energy Private Ltd, and VVKR Photovoltaics Energy Private Ltd. These companies are special purpose vehicles (SPVs) formed by PPA owners, Paradigm IT Technologies Pvt Ltd, and Metalcraft Forming Industries Pvt Ltd, underscoring a strong partnership network committed to expanding India’s renewable energy footprint.
Under the terms of the contract, Bondada Engineering Ltd will be responsible for the comprehensive design, survey, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of grid-connected distributed solar power plants. These plants are set to solarize selected agricultural feeders at the sub-station level within the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) jurisdiction. This initiative aligns with the Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Vahini Yojana 2.0, a key component of the PM-KUSUM scheme, which aims to enhance the use of solar power in the agricultural sector.
In addition to setting up the solar power plants, the contract also includes the installation of an associated 11 kV line to connect the plants to the respective sub-stations. A state-of-the-art Remote Monitoring System (RMS) will be installed to ensure efficient operation and real-time monitoring of the solar power plants.
The project is set to deliver a combined capacity of 170.40 MW on a Direct Current (DC) basis, significantly contributing to Maharashtra’s renewable energy targets and supporting India’s broader goals for a sustainable energy future. The installation of these solar power plants will play a crucial role in reducing carbon emissions, promoting green energy, and providing a reliable power supply to agricultural feeders.
About PM-KUSUM Scheme
The PM-KUSUM scheme is a flagship initiative launched by the Government of India to promote the use of solar energy among farmers, reduce their dependence on traditional grid electricity, and provide them with a sustainable and cost-effective power source. The scheme has been instrumental in driving the adoption of solar power in rural areas, creating new opportunities for economic growth and energy security.
