EliTe Solar announces a $150 million investment to build an 8 GW solar manufacturing hub in Egypt's Suez Special Economic Zone, marking a major expansion into the Middle East.
EliTe Solar, a global leader in integrated solar manufacturing solutions, has announced a significant investment to establish an 8 GW solar manufacturing hub in Egypt's Suez Special Economic Zone. This strategic move follows discussions with Egypt's Prime Minister and the Chairman of the Suez Special Economic Zone, positioning the company as a key player in the Middle East's renewable energy landscape.
A Major Expansion into the Middle East's Solar Market
EliTe Solar's new facility in Egypt will focus on the production of high-efficiency solar cells and module assembly, supporting the region's growing demand for renewable energy. The hub will also contribute significantly to Egypt's clean energy initiatives and strengthen its export potential. A significant portion of the production will be exported to major markets such as the United States, boosting Egypt's status as a renewable energy leader in the region.
$150 Million Investment to Power Renewable Growth
The investment, valued at over $150 million, will span 78,000 square meters and be developed in two phases. The first phase, set to be completed by September 2025, will establish a 2 GW solar cell production line. Once fully operational, the facility is expected to generate annual sales of over $190 million. EliTe Solar's bold move into Egypt underscores its dedication to expanding into the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, aligning with Egypt's vision to be a central player in photovoltaic manufacturing.
Strategic Location and Global Reach
Located within the Suez Special Economic Zone, this new hub provides strategic access to both domestic and international markets, including North America, Europe, and Africa. This prime location enhances EliTe Solar’s ability to cater to the growing demand for solar energy and positions Egypt as a regional leader in clean energy production.
The new facility will also create thousands of local jobs, significantly boosting Egypt’s economic and export capabilities. "This venture will position Egypt as a central hub for photovoltaic manufacturing in the Middle East and North Africa," said Derek Liu, Chairman of EliTe Solar. "With a planned total production capacity of 8 GW, we are introducing solar technology to revolutionize local supply chains and manufacturing standards."
Strengthening Global Supply Networks
This new hub in Egypt complements EliTe Solar’s existing manufacturing facilities in Indonesia and Vietnam, further solidifying its global supply chain. As a BNEF Tier 1 solar technology provider, EliTe Solar continues to drive the development of sustainable and efficient solar energy solutions worldwide.
EliTe Solar's expansion into Egypt is part of its commitment to supporting the global transition to renewable energy. By creating a robust solar manufacturing base in the Middle East, the company will meet the rising demand for solar power across the region and globally.
