Insolation Green Energy invests ₹4 billion in a 3 GW solar PV module and 12,000 MTA aluminum frame plant in Rajasthan, supporting India’s renewable energy growth and job creation.
Insolation Green Energy, a subsidiary of Insolation Energy, has commenced the construction of a 3 GW solar PV module facility and a 12,000 metric ton aluminum frame plant in Sawarda, Jaipur, Rajasthan. With an investment of ₹4 billion (~$47.6 million), this will be the company’s third manufacturing facility, marking a major milestone in India’s renewable energy manufacturing sector.
Expanding Solar Manufacturing Capacity
The new facility will span 109,000 square meters and will produce 3 GW of n-type and Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact (ToPCon) solar panels, alongside 12,000 metric tons of aluminum frames annually. These solar panels will meet international standards, including the IEC, Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM), and Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), ensuring high-quality products for both domestic and international markets.
Job Creation and Economic Growth
The facility is expected to create over 800 jobs, contributing to the region’s economic development. By establishing this state-of-the-art manufacturing hub, Insolation Green Energy aims to bolster India’s position as a global leader in solar manufacturing, aligning with the government’s “Make in India” initiative.
Supporting Government Programs
Insolation Energy’s products are already being used in several key government initiatives, such as the Jal Jeevan Mission, PM-Kusum, and PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. These programs focus on providing sustainable energy solutions across rural and urban areas, further reinforcing the company's commitment to India’s green energy goals.
Contribution to India's Solar Manufacturing Growth
In July, Insolation Energy contributed 187 MW to the expanded 2,674 MW of solar module capacity under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy’s (MNRE) ALMM program. The total solar module manufacturing capacity under the ALMM now stands at 54,706 MW, underscoring India’s growing dominance in solar manufacturing.
Growing Rooftop Solar Presence
Insolation Energy is also playing a key role in rooftop solar projects across Rajasthan. The company was among six firms awarded a letter of allocation to develop 1,500 kW of rooftop solar projects, part of a larger 45 MW grid-connected rooftop solar initiative led by the Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Limited (RRECL).
India's Solar Manufacturing Landscape
According to the State of Solar PV Manufacturing in India 2024 report by Mercom India Research, India added 20.8 GW of solar module capacity and 3.2 GW of solar cell capacity in 2023 alone. By the end of 2023, India’s total solar module manufacturing capacity reached 64.5 GW, with its solar cell capacity at 5.8 GW. Of the installed module capacity, around 60% is capable of producing modules in M10 and G12 wafer sizes, reflecting the advanced nature of the country’s solar manufacturing sector
