Karnataka signs MoU with Australia’s Smart Energy Council to enhance cooperation in clean energy, renewables, and green hydrogen. The collaboration will drive technology transfer and bilateral investments.
Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Limited (KREDL) has taken a significant step towards enhancing its renewable energy efforts by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Smart Energy Council of Australia. This agreement is aimed at fostering cooperation in clean energy sectors, including renewables, green hydrogen, and battery energy storage systems.
Strengthening Ties for a Sustainable Future
The MoU was formalized on Saturday by John Grimes, Chief Executive of the Smart Energy Council, and K P Rudrappaiah, Managing Director of KREDL. The collaboration will enable Karnataka to benefit from Australia’s advanced clean energy technologies while exploring bilateral investment opportunities that will benefit both regions.
Karnataka's Energy Minister K J George highlighted that this partnership will further strengthen green hydrogen and clean energy initiatives in the state. He emphasized that the cooperation would lead to technological collaboration and knowledge sharing, which could significantly accelerate the region’s transition to sustainable energy.
Bilateral Investment and Technology Transfer
Gaurav Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary and part of the Karnataka delegation to Australia, stated that the MoU would not only facilitate technology transfer but also pave the way for commercialization of clean energy technologies in both regions. The partnership will focus on promoting and integrating Australian clean energy technologies into the local market, accelerating Karnataka's goals of becoming a leader in renewable energy and green hydrogen.
