Bidders must also pay an earnest money deposit of ₹1 million (~$11,220) per MW. Successful bidders must furnish ₹2.35 million as a performance bank guarantee before signing the power purchase agreement (PPA).

Capacity and Location Requirements:

  • Bidders can offer a minimum capacity of 30 MW for projects in northeastern states and special category areas.

  • The total capacity offered cannot exceed 600 MW but can go up to 1,200 MW utilizing the greenshoe option.

  • Developers must identify, purchase or lease land for the projects at their discretion.

  • Proposed project locations must be specified in the bid submission.

Only commercially proven and operational technologies will be accepted to ensure minimal risk and timely project completion. In May 2024, NHPC also invited bids for 1.2 GW of ISTS-connected solar power projects under Tranche-VIII.
