NLC India Ltd. Solar PPA with Telangana

NLC India Limited (NLCIL) has entered into a power usage agreement with Telangana state distribution companies for the supply of 200 megawatts (MW) of solar power. This agreement, made under the Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSU) scheme, will span 25 years and significantly contribute to the growth of renewable energy in Telangana.

Solar Power Project to Offset Carbon Emissions in Telangana

The 200 MW solar project is projected to generate around 13 billion units of green energy over its lifetime. This substantial production of clean energy will help offset approximately 9 million tonnes of carbon emissions, aiding India’s efforts to reduce its carbon footprint. The project is expected to be commissioned by June 2025, providing Telangana with cost-effective renewable energy while helping the state meet its renewable purchase obligations.

NLC India Expands Renewable Energy Portfolio with Gujarat Solar Project

In addition to the agreement with Telangana, NLC India Green Energy Limited, a subsidiary of NLCIL, signed a power purchase agreement in March 2024 with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited for a 600 MW solar project. This move further demonstrates NLCIL's commitment to expanding its renewable energy portfolio across India, contributing significantly to Gujarat's green energy capacity.

Joint Venture with Rajasthan to Boost Solar and Lignite-Based Power

Continuing its expansion in renewable energy, NLCIL signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Rajasthan government in March 2024 to form a joint venture. This partnership aims to develop a 125 MW lignite-based power plant and a 1,000 MW solar power plant in Rajasthan. These projects highlight NLCIL's strategy to diversify its energy mix and enhance its presence in the renewable energy sector.

Benefits of NLC India’s Solar Projects

NLCIL’s strategic investments in solar projects across Telangana, Gujarat, and Rajasthan underscore its focus on promoting sustainable energy. These initiatives not only provide affordable, clean energy but also support regional development by helping states achieve their renewable energy targets. By expanding its renewable energy capacity, NLCIL is playing a crucial role in India’s green energy transition, driving economic growth, and supporting environmental sustainability.
