Norwegian Hydrogen Acquires Rjukan Project with Long-Term Renewable Energy PPA

Norwegian Hydrogen has taken a significant step toward advancing green energy initiatives by acquiring the Rjukan Green Hydrogen Project in Norway. The company inherits a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with Tinn Energi, ensuring the project will utilize 100% renewable energy.

As part of the agreement, Aker Horizons, a key stakeholder in sustainable investments, retains an option to rejoin the project as an investor and active partner in the future. This strategic provision opens doors for potential collaboration to scale the initiative further.


CEO Jens Berge Highlights Commitment to Zero-Emission Solutions

Jens Berge, CEO of Norwegian Hydrogen, expressed enthusiasm for the acquisition:

Letter of Intent Signed with Nel for Advanced Electrolysis Technology

Norwegian Hydrogen has signed a letter of intent (LoI) with Nel, a renowned hydrogen technology company, for the delivery of a pressurized alkaline electrolysis plant. Nel has received support from the EU Innovation Fund to develop this cutting-edge technology, which will play a pivotal role in the project.


Rjukan Facility to Boost Green Hydrogen Production for Multiple Sectors

The Rjukan facility is set to produce approximately nine tonnes of green hydrogen daily, powered by a 20 MW electrolyzer. The hydrogen will cater to diverse sectors, including industry, shipping, and mobility, strengthening Norway’s role in the global green energy transition.
