ReNew, a leading renewable energy company, has successfully commissioned 750 MW of its 1 GW solar project in Rajasthan. This significant milestone aligns with India’s Make in India initiative, as the solar panels for the project are manufactured at ReNew's facilities in Jaipur, Rajasthan, and Dholera, Gujarat. The remaining 225 MW of the project is slated for completion by January 2025.
Key Highlights
Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs): ReNew partnered with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) through three separate agreements, ensuring the energy generated is supplied to Rajasthan.
Local Manufacturing:
90% of solar panels for the project are produced in Rajasthan.
100% of solar panels are manufactured in India, showcasing ReNew's commitment to local sourcing and employment.
The company’s state-of-the-art facilities produce 17,000 solar panels daily, employing advanced automation technologies.
Economic Impact: The facilities have generated over 1,500 direct jobs and a similar number of indirect opportunities, boosting the local economy.
Investment and Growth in Rajasthan
Current Investment: ReNew has invested approximately INR 21,000 crore in Rajasthan for completed and ongoing projects.
Future Commitments: Under a previously signed MoU with the Rajasthan government, the company plans to invest INR 62,000 crore by 2030, becoming one of the largest private-sector investors in the state.
ReNew’s Renewable Energy Portfolio
Capacity in Rajasthan: The state hosts over 10 GW of ReNew's total capacity, including 4+ GW operational projects and several under-construction and pipeline projects.
Pipeline: ReNew's renewable energy pipeline exceeds 23 GW, encompassing contracted portfolios, energy storage systems, and auction wins.
Operational Milestone: ReNew reached 10.4 GW operational capacity as of November 2024, with 16 GW committed.
