Rewa Ultra Mega Solar invites bids for a 600 MW solar power project with Battery Energy Storage in Morena Solar Park, Madhya Pradesh. The project aims to supply peak power and improve grid stability.

REWA Ultra Mega Solar Bid

Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Ltd (RUMSL) has issued an invitation for bids to develop a 600 MW grid-connected solar power project, integrated with a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), at Morena Solar Park in Madhya Pradesh. The project aims to bolster the state’s renewable energy capacity, providing a reliable supply of peak power while ensuring energy storage for enhanced grid stability.

Details of the Solar Project with BESS Integration

The 600 MW project is divided into two units, each with a capacity of 300 MW. Together, the units will supply 440 MW of peak power (220 MW from each unit) to the procurer during designated peak periods. These periods are split into two-hour slots in the morning and evening, ensuring that power is available during high-demand times.

In addition to solar power generation, the project includes the integration of a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) to store energy for peak demand. The procurer will provide night-time charging for the BESS units under the terms of the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). The project will be built on a pre-identified land parcel within the Morena Solar Park, streamlining the development process.

Bidding Process and Requirements

Interested developers must submit bids by January 20, 2025, with the bid opening scheduled for January 23, 2025. The scope of work includes the development, operation, and maintenance of the two solar units, including the BESS. Selected bidders will sign a PPA with RUMSL and the procurer, which in this case is MP Power Management Company, acting on behalf of Madhya Pradesh’s three distribution companies.

Bidders are required to submit an earnest money deposit of ₹425.50 million (approx. $5.08 million) for one unit of 220 MW and ₹851.01 million (approx. $10.17 million) for both units. They must also provide a performance bank guarantee (PBG) amounting to ₹851.01 million for one unit and ₹1.70 billion (approx. $20.33 million) for both units. Additionally, bidders must demonstrate a minimum annual turnover of ₹1.25 billion (approx. $14.95 million) for one unit and ₹2.20 billion (approx. $26.31 million) for both units in FY 2023-24.

Renewable Energy Expansion in Madhya Pradesh

This new 600 MW project is part of RUMSL’s ongoing efforts to expand renewable energy capacity in Madhya Pradesh. Earlier in 2024, RUMSL invited bids for a 170 MW grid-connected solar project in the Neemuch Solar Park. Additionally, the organization issued a tender for 400 MW of firm and dispatchable renewable power earlier in the same year.
