Suzlon Group, a leader in wind energy, has won a significant 400 MW order from JSP Green Wind 1 Pvt. Ltd., a subsidiary of Jindal Renewables Power Private Limited, marking the industry's largest commercial and industrial (C&I) wind power project. This win further cements Suzlon's dominance in India's renewable energy sector and advances the country's clean energy transition. With this new order, Suzlon’s cumulative order book stands at an impressive 5.4 GW.
Wind Power to Decarbonize Steel Plants in Chhattisgarh and Odisha
Under this project, Suzlon will supply 127 wind turbine generators (WTGs), each with a rated capacity of 3.15 MW. These turbines will be equipped with Hybrid Lattice Tubular (HLT) towers and will be installed in the Koppal region of Karnataka. The power generated will be used for captive consumption at Jindal's steel plants in Chhattisgarh and Odisha, contributing to the decarbonization of the hard-to-abate steel sector and supporting India’s green energy goals.

Girish Tanti, Vice Chairman of Suzlon Group, emphasized the significance of this collaboration, stating, "We are proud to partner with the Jindal Group in a bold step towards a low-carbon future. This collaboration redefines industrial sustainability and aligns with India's 2070 net-zero vision, setting a new benchmark for sustainable practices in steel production."
Green Energy Integration for Sustainable Steel Production
Bharat Saxena, President of Jindal Renewables, highlighted the steelmaker's commitment to integrating green energy solutions into their operations, saying, "This collaboration marks the beginning of a new era in sustainable steel production. By incorporating wind power, we are reducing our overall carbon footprint and taking significant strides toward the Group's net-zero commitment by 2047."

JP Chalasani, CEO of Suzlon Group, underscored the importance of this collaboration for the steel sector, noting that decarbonization of industries like steel is vital for achieving India's renewable energy targets.
