Tata Power commits INR 550 crore to supply solar and wind energy to Noida International Airport, supporting India's journey towards net-zero aviation infrastructure.
In a significant step towards sustainable aviation infrastructure, Tata Power has announced an investment of INR 550 crore to establish renewable energy sources for the upcoming Noida International Airport (NIA) in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh. This investment will fund the development of solar and wind energy facilities, along with essential infrastructure, ensuring NIA’s energy requirements are met with clean, renewable power.
A Green Initiative: Power Purchase Agreements for Solar and Wind Energy
The Tata Power Trading Company Limited (TPTCL) will spearhead the renewable energy portfolio for the airport through comprehensive Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs). These agreements were formalized at a signing event in New Delhi, attended by Tata Power’s President of Transmission and Distribution, Sanjay Banga, and Christoph Schnellmann, CEO of Noida International Airport.
This collaboration underscores Tata Power’s commitment to advancing India’s green energy landscape by providing clean energy solutions to one of the country’s largest infrastructure projects.
Leading the Way in Sustainable Aviation Infrastructure
Dr. Praveer Sinha, CEO and Managing Director of Tata Power, expressed enthusiasm for the initiative: “Tata Power is proud to partner with the Noida International Airport to pioneer renewable energy integration. As the nation enhances its aviation infrastructure, we are leading the charge by providing innovative clean energy solutions. This collaboration will support the development of net-zero airports, catering to millions of Indians, accelerating the country’s path towards a greener future.”
This alliance is a key element in India's clean energy ambitions, aiming to position Noida International Airport as a net-zero emission facility. Tata Power’s substantial investment will play a critical role in transforming NIA into a model for sustainable development in the aviation sector.
