Vestas secures a conditional order for 72 V236-15 MW turbines for the 1.1-GW Inch Cape Wind Farm, located off Scotland's coast. Full operations expected by 2027.
Vestas has received a conditional order to supply 72 of its V236-15 MW wind turbines to the Inch Cape Offshore Wind Farm, a major project set in the central UK North Sea. The 1.1 GW wind farm, located 15 kilometers off the coast of Angus in eastern Scotland, is a key development in the region’s renewable energy landscape.
The order encompasses the supply, installation, and commissioning of the turbines, with the installation harbor located at the Port of Dundee. The project marks a significant step forward in the UK's push for cleaner energy solutions.
Cadeler to Lead Turbine Installation
In June, Inch Cape Offshore, a joint venture between ESB and Red Rock Renewables, signed an agreement with Cadeler for the installation of the turbines. Cadeler will utilize one of its newly built M-class jackup vessels to carry out the installation process, starting in the fourth quarter of 2026. The entire installation program is expected to take around 249 days.
Full Operations by 2027
Once fully operational, which is expected by 2027, the Inch Cape Wind Farm will significantly bolster Scotland's renewable energy capacity, contributing to the UK's ambitious climate goals.
